I am a qualified Mediator and can help you to overcome the numerous problems encountered in running projects & programs, and the day to day running of your business (IT).

Parties are far more willing to commit to the resolution process where an "external" Mediator is involved, and so I now offer short engagements in mediation, dispute and conflict resolution and coaching.

I initially acquired these skills to help address the people issues that IT projects just seem to attract, issues such as:

• matrix management - conflict and dispute over people allocation
• motivation - people not "pulling their weight", not focussed etc
• competency - people "over their heads"
• personality conflicts
• conflicting or unclear priorities
• conflict of interpretation eg IT contract disputes between IT suppliers and Client
• conflict involving personal responsibilities
• etc

However, I soon realised that our Mediation techniques and expertise could be used more widely - not just to mediate disputes and conflict.

Some of the areas that I apply these techniques to within a consultancy are:

• Communication

This is now an area of ongoing research and development as I seek to have people management recognised as a critical aspect of IT, particularly in achieving business alignment and business value.
