IT Business Plan Development

Transforming IT

We develop I.T. Business Plans to capture and formalise the C.I.O's vision and how value will be delivered to the business. The I.T. Business Plan contains information similar to that found in commercial Business Plans except it is shaped for I.T. operations and projects. Typical information includes:

  • the I.T. Vision
  • Blueprint
  • S.W.O.T. (eg Outsourcing - opportunity or threat?)
  • Strategy
  • Marketing & P.R. (eg What does I.T really know about the business? What do they think of you?)
  • CSF's & Targets (eg. What constitutes I.T. "success"? How will you know you've got there?)
  • Budgets & Financials (eg What does the money go? How much does it take "to keep the lights on"?)
  • Risks (do you really know?)
  • Plans
  • Timeframes

The I.T. Business Plan provides information about the "future I.T.", the "what", "why" and "how" to get there.

It is a very effective means for communicating the C.I.O's expectation of I.T. and the criteria used to determine I.T. "success".

It becomes a baseline document for the Change Agenda, I.T. Transformation, I.T Practice Improvement and Programme & Project planning & management.

A key component is the I.T. Strategy Map that links I.T. activity with the Business Strategy's targets and outcomes
